PLC Showcase

Our Leadership PLC may want to do a showcase on literacy and effort around coaching.  Focus on the collaboration effort with our teachers around in the areas writing, reading thinking, speaking. We understand that as PLC teaching learning is the key for our student success, with the District and our data we should be about to share our student information. This will give our PLC an opportunity to measure what they have done and where we may want to go in the future as a PLC.
Some of the PLC's are moving along and others still need assistance with finding something to focus on this semester. As I visit the groups I am impressed with the different technology they are sharing.  I have asked them to apply some of the knowledge they are learning in their classrooms and bring back results to share with the group.  I do believe they are utilizing the time wisely and working on ways to improve student learning.

So...
How has the work of the PLC grown this year?
How do we realize we need to support that as a leadership team?
How do we support PLCs in conversation?
How do we increase OUR focus on student work?

From the Talent Code:
The master teaachers and coaches were quiet, even reserved.
They listend far more than they talked.
They spent most of their time offering small, targeted, highly specific adjustments.
They had an extraordinary sensitivity to the person they were teaching, customizing each message to each student's personality.

They were DELIBERATE CULTIVATORS.
I really don't know what we should do for the May 1st Showcase.  With the a purpose of empowering and encouraging, maybe focus on the growth seen in the building around PLCs...through the eyes of the Leadership Team.

May 1st Showcase

I think it would be interesting to show the stages of our progress of PLCs. I would like to highlight the work we have done with individual PLCs and teachers. I also want to emphasize how the PLCs have enhanced student learning. However, I'm not sure how we can accomplish this effectively.
My thoughts on the May 1 showcase.......... I think we should showcase our learnings based upon book studies, growth we have observed in other PLC's, growth in the classroom due to PLC work and our perspective on how the building capacity has been impacted through this process. Kathy
WHAT WE HAVE SAID:
Our Purpose:
Continually empower and elevate PLCs to drive our work.
...to continue to  learn, refine and define the work of the PLC.
...support each other in reflective conversations.
...Focus on the continuous improvement cycle.

The focus of our PLC work is learning, collaboration, and results.
Our PLC work together is to be focused on efforts that will really make a difference in student learning.
Big Idea #1: Ensuring That Students Learn
What will our PLC try that will impact student learning?
How will this contribute to student success in the classroom and increased student achievement for all students?
Big Idea #2: A Culture of Collaboration
How will we work together to impact student learning?
Big Idea #3: A Focus on Results
What results will we measure to determine if our effort improves student learning?

Student Learning (Engagement)
Working Together (Collaboration)
Focus on Student Work  (How do we showcase this more??)

A look at the Talent Code....

1.  Stop + Struggle + Make Errors + Learn
-----this is the key to developing talent-------

10,000 hours of DEEP PRACTICE.
CHUNK IT UP ----- REPEAT IT ----- LEARN TO SENSE THE ERRORS.

2.  Keep Motivation Burning -- Triggered by WORDS!

Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire!
